Why Women Should Shop In The Men’s Section

Why Women Should Shop In The Men’s Section

When Target announced a while ago that they decided to stop separating “girls” and “boys” toys in the children’s toy section, it’s echoing a viewpoint that media is finally claiming as the new normal: gender should not stop you from liking and having what you want. Much of general society has functioned on set gender roles for a long time, though. A lot of our “stuff” is divided by our gender, from clothing to games to appliances, etc. However, why shouldn’t a woman find flattering clothing in both the women and men’s section of the store? Diana, from Our City Lights, shows us how she rocks a “men’s” shirt:

I had the hardest time finding a chambray shirt that fit me, my big bust, and was comfortable. If I did find a great chambray, I was so worried I would sneeze, the buttons would come flying off. I never imagined to look in the men’s section because, you know, it’s the men’s section but it’s opened up a new shopping field for me. Men’s clothes fall easier I noticed, they’re not as restrained to keep those curves like most women’s clothing. They are also slightly cheaper, even with the same fabric. I picked up this chambray from the men’s section at J.Crew  and it’s my favorite shirt right now.
