The Long-Awaited Second Collection of Poetry From The Feminist Heroine

Rupi Kaur, a poet whose fame arose from her Instagram account (@rupikaur_), made waves when she released her first collection of poetry, milk and honey, in 2014. With poetry centered around multicultural feminism and the overall strength and grace of womankind, Kaur was able to tackle heavy issues with a sense of lightness that made her poetry both approachable and important.

While not everyone was a fan of her style of poetry, it was widely accepted that Kaur’s underlying message behind her work in milk and honey was a triumph for all of the facets of feminism. An immigrant from India now living in Canada, Kaur has the ability to address issues of feminism without whitewashing it, a common problem that faces feminism. And on October 3, Kaur did it again with her long-awaited second collection of poetry, the sun and her flowers.

While this collection had its critics as well, many took to the internet to rave about Kaur’s newest poems, including past critics of milk and honey. Her newest collection includes poems focusing on a wide variety of issues affecting women: self-love, body image, sexual assault, insecurity, and so much more. The 25-year-old poet has successfully taken feminist poetry and made it mainstream. the sun and her flowers is available for purchase now.
