Last Thursday, Lipstick&Politics held its May Leadership Salon called “Women and Investments: The Importance of Capitalizing the Future,” that tackled the crucial conversation of women and money. Over $20 trillion of the world’s wealth is created, controlled, and influenced by women. Despite this number, we see an economic parity between men and women that go beyond the pay gap called the investment gap. Women have controlled the consumer market for decades while missing out on major aspects of investing, including hedge funds, private equity, and investment banking. Our panelists discussed the need for women to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in the game—the investment game, that is—and how to get started.
Mira Veda, the Founder and Editor-In-Chief of Lipstick&Politics, moderated a diverse panel of financial leaders featuring Swati Chaturvedi, Diane Loviglio, Jen O’Neal, and Molly Newborn. Swati Chaturvedi is the CEO of Propel(x) Inc., an investment marketplace that enables accredited investors to invest in science and technology startups that are changing the world. Diane Loviglio is the Co-Founder & CEO of Boon + Gable, a mobile app that brings a personal stylist to your home with 20 specifically chosen items for you. Jen O’Neal is the CEO of Tripping.com, the world’s top search engine for vacation rentals. Molly Newborn is a former research scientist in cellular and molecular neurobiology at UCLA who now works as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley.
