Lipstick is one of our favorite makeup items, but when the summer season rolls around, we need lip products that are much lighter and more breathable in the sunny heat! Alyson shows off two lip stains we’re definitely eyeing for our summer makeup looks.
It’s been 1 year since Clarins’ debut of Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil and I’ve been hooked ever since (see review here). This lip product renewed my love for glossy lips when everyone was still all about matte — needless to say, it’s one of my fave glosses ever.
Fast forward 1 year later and Clarins is releasing another amazing lip product, a buildable water-based lip stain called the Water Lip Stain.

This plant-based lip oil treatment is super glossy and gives a hint of color to lips. I personally love wearing it alone with an everyday makeup look, but you can wear it under lipstick for some added moisture or on top of lipstick for an extra glossy look.
The applicator is on the thicker side and feels really soft when I apply it. Because of the sheer color and easy applicator, I don’t even need to use a mirror! I just apply it and go. It’s one of my go-to lip glosses when I just need a little bit of color without looking overdone and the oil keeps my lips moisturized. There are 8 shades available to cater to any everyday makeup look.

For something a little bolder, the Water Lip Stain is a fun yet practical lip product to try. The shades are so vibrant, but what’s the most useful for me is that it stains my lips so I don’t have to worry about reapplying throughout the day. The lip brush is shorter and more narrow than the Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil so you can control where and how much you put on. The color is also buildable, so you can wear it as sheer or as bold as you like. Wear it alone, under a lipstick, or even under the Lip Comfort Oil. If you’re feeling up for it, it’s a great product to use for the K-Beauty gradient lip trend! There are 4 shades available to wear!
