For many of us who use makeup, we don’t usually dare to go for brighter and bolder colors, even for dressy and fun occasions. But with a little bit of confidence and fun, a bold color is easy and beautiful to wear! Here’s Alyson on how to rock a bold blue eyeshadow:
Stalker alert. My Instagram account is full of makeup artists and one of my favorites has to be Mario Dedivanovic. He’s such a talented makeup artist and I just stare in awe at his work sometimes…
I saw a blue smokey eye that he did on Kim K and it was stunnnnning. I’m not usually one to do a colorful smokey eye, but I had to do it for you guys, especially if you’re still feeling glam from Valentine’s Day.
Keep in mind I don’t have Kim’s large beautiful eyes, so I adapted the look to fit my hooded eyelids and I tried to use similar products to what Mario listed in the IG picture.
1. Define your crease by adding a transition shade. I used a big fluffy brush to blend that into my crease and I used the colors Nectar and Light Brown from the Lorac PRO Palette 2.
2. Use a cream eyeshadow or eyeliner in a bright blue shade all over the lid. It doesn’t have to be precise because we’re going to blend it all out. I’m using a cream on the lids to make the blue standout more when we apply the eyeshadow. Here I used the butter LONDON WINK Eye Pencil in Inky Six.
3. After you blend out the pencil, add a shimmery bronzy shade to your crease. Here I used MAC Woodwinked.
4. Next, pat on a matte navy eyeshadow where you applied the blue pencil. I used Navy from the Lorac PRO Palette 2.
5. Blend.
6. For a metallic sheen, wet your brush and pack on a shimmery navy blue onto your lids and bring it up quite high onto your crease. This way, even if your eyes are open, you’ll see the blue peeking through. I used the metallic crease color in Wet n Wild Blue Had Me At Hello.
7. Line your lower lashline with the butter LONDON WINK Eye Pencil in Inky Six and line your waterline with your favorite black liner. I used my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Peversion. Blend the blue eyeliner with the blue metallic crease color.
8. Add your eyeliner and favorite falsies. I used NYC Liquid Eyeliner and NYX Wicked Lashes. Highlight your inner corner with Beige from the Lorac PRO Palette 2.
That’s it!
