Inside San Francisco’s Social Event Of The Season

Inside San Francisco’s Social Event Of The Season

The Symphony Opening Gala is one of San Francisco’s must-attend events of the season. Part social event,  part cultural producer, the evening is a brilliant agglomeration of human and cultural capital. The dense clustering of political heavy weights, tech titans and emerging professionals allows for a unique opportunity to bond over the cultural value of music as art.

The opening night gave a rare treat to attendees who enjoyed performances by superstar sopranos Renée Fleming and Susan Graham. The once-in-a-lifetime gala performance was conducted by maestro Michael Tilson Thomas  and the night began with the overture to Rossini’s “William Tell.”

The Gala performance was preceded by  three dinner options:  the Patrons’ Dinner, the Symphony Supper and the Symphonix Dinner.  The Symphonix and Supper cocktails were held in City Hall, an elegant dinner at North Light Court, while the Patrons dinner was tented right next to Davies Symphony Hall.  During the evening, supporters of the of the symphony and members of Symphonix  gathered in to top the evening for the afterparty, the next glittering social event.

Symphonix is a group of the Bay Area’s young professionals who have vision, are socially-minded, progressive, and who also share an interest in the renowned San Francisco symphony orchestra.  Symphonix’s 400 members are entrepreneurs and philanthropists who gather at networking events, Symphony concerts and various parties and educational opportunities throughout the year. The Symphonix community helps to enrich the lives of 75,000 Bay Area young people through supporting San Francisco Symphony education and community programs, such as the Symphony’s Concerts for Kids, Adventures in Music, Youth Orchestra and Instrument Training Programs.
