Autumn is just around the corner and it’s time to consider how to incorporate summer’s must-have trends into your fall wardrobe rotation. In stores this past summer, I’ve noticed many styles that pull from 80’s and 90’s fashion, which means this fall will see a new set of patterns that deviate from the classic plaid print. Think tie-dye, animal prints, and neon everything! Below are five of this season’s most sought-after trends and how to wear them in the next season.
Tie-Dye
UO Lana Tie-Dye Bias Midi Skirt, $40
Tie-dye made a major comeback this summer. To transition this trend to fall, try an ultra-flattering silk midi skirt with a tie-dye or psychedelic print and pair it with Tevas and a button-down cardigan.
Fringe
ASOS Design Mustard Tile Print Kimono Cape With Fringing, $32
Fringe detailing is another summer trend we’ve been living in. Fringe adds movement and a classic western feel to all outfits. This kimono with fringe ends is the perfect transitional piece; pair with a turtleneck, bootcut denim jeans, and booties.
Bike Shorts
When I first heard that bike shorts were officially a trend for summer 2019, I immediately tried to emulate Princess Diana’s classic style. (See here for reference.) Turns out, it’s a surprisingly easy fall outfit recipe: all you need is bike shorts, an oversized sweatshirt, and white chunky sneakers (which are also trending right now!)
Animal Print
Hear Me Roar Onesie, $118
Animal print was all I wanted to wear in middle school. When the trend made a comeback this year, all my adult dressing fantasy became fully realized. You can’t really go wrong with animal print in the fall—the print is on virtually everything! I like the idea of this sleeveless jumpsuit because it is so versatile and easy to layer. Add a long sleeve top underneath and a jacket on top once the temperature starts cooling down.
Neon
Neon Lime Oversized Joggers, $34
The 80’s called and said you can keep wearing neon. Neon was everywhere this summer, and it is a trend that just won’t quit. I love that you can now buy neon loungewear to keep you cozy all fall.
