Thanksgiving is the time to take a moment and reflect on what you’re truly grateful for. And while most people will agree on the Thanksgiving “staples” of gratitude (family, friends, health, etc.), the reasons we’re thankful for them might not be as widely accepted. And let’s be honest, there’s a few more things to be thankful for around the holidays than just the “staples”. Here are some possibilities of things to be grateful for this holiday season, no matter where you’re at in life.
- Friendsgiving: for the chance to have two thanksgiving dinners
- Big piles of leaves: because you’re never too old to jump into them
- Friends: for taking all of those Insta photos of you that you can’t take yourself
- Your health: because even on days when it isn’t perfect, it’s still pretty damn good
- Your annoying older relative: for reminding you that everyone else in your family isn’t that bad
- Sweatpants and elastic waistbands: because Thanksgiving dinner shouldn’t be restricted by buttons and zippers
- Parents: because no matter how old you are they can still solve any problem early sunsets: because they bring your kids to the kitchen table (and your head to the pillow) a little sooner
- Babysitters who also clean up: for saving your sanity and loving your kiddos
- A table full of childhood friends: because reminiscing about your middle school crush really makes you thankful for your current love life
- The barista who knows your coffee order by heart: because sometimes it’s hard to communicate before your morning dose of caffeine
- Your dishwasher: for making post-thanksgiving dinner a little easier
- When something you want finally goes on sale: because those jeans definitely aren’t worth $100, but they’re definitely worthy of being in your closet
- For the food coma-induced sleep: because nothing makes you sleep better than a turkey dinner
- Alcohol served at family Thanksgiving: for making the interrogation of your current life status a little more bearable
