I’m almost through reading Amy Poehler’s charming, hilarious and honest auto-biography, “Yes, Please.” I may like it even more than – as she puts it – her ‘work wife,’ Tina Fey’s book “Bossypants.” In it she writes passionately about working with orphans in Haiti. I’m not being facetious when I say that I’m considering the possibility of adopting from Haiti after reading her book.
As I was finishing the book, my fellow L&P contributor Bobbi Jo Rohrberg (A.K.A.The Leslie Knope of Iowa) posted this video on Facebook. In it Amy Poehler is her usual hilarious self, but she also speaks movingly about the plight of orphans around the world. Children who do not grow up with the love and security that many of us take for granted.
If you’re an Amy Poehler fan, this will make you love her more.
