Documentary Challenges Ideals of Fashion & Youth

Women’s fashion trends are always changing. The fluidity of fashion is always present, no matter the trend. Inside that change there is  a constant thread through all women’s fashion trend. Something you may not have noticed : Youth.

Most of the time, in order to look fashionable, women should also look young and often be young. Youthfulness is fashion.   Once a woman begins to look older, have wrinkles, stretchmarks, and sagging skin, her value as a fashionable voice is discarded.

An upcoming documentary titled Advanced Style is challenging the idea of youthfulness and fashion.   Directed by Lina Plioplyte, it  features fashionable women over the age of 65 who don’t see as their age as a hindrance to their fashion capability. The film makes the argument that it doesn’t matter the age–a women can always be fashionable and look good. We can’t wait to see this! Check out the trailer for the documentary below.
