Aranya Johar, a spoken word poet, understands the difficulties women face because of their gender. When women are born, they should be free. But unfortunately, old societal practices and perceptions about women and how they should be, especially in regards to their sexual and reproductive identities, are placed upon them. These negative, detrimental thoughts hinder not only women, but societal progress. Society reduces women simply to their ability to reproduce and have intercourse when they should be so much more than that. Men and women must fight back against these stigmas.
