Stand With Trans: Powerful #WontBeErased Tweets

Stand With Trans: Powerful #WontBeErased Tweets

Trump and his administration continue to attack the LGBTQ community, specifically trans people.

Over the weekend, The New York Times released a report that the Trump administration were going to revise Title IX, a law that prevents sex discrimination in federally funded schools. The revision “would define sex as either male or female, unchangeable, and determined by the genitals that a person is born with” which would blatantly remove any protections for trans students.

Outrage of this possible reinterpretation was swift. Protests were quickly organized in New York City and in Washington D.C. The hashtag #WontBeErased started trending online and there have been many incredible, powerful accounts from trans people firmly holding their ground in the face of potential danger. Here are some of the social media posts that we were moved by from the last two days. Make sure to call your senators and donate to organizations supporting trans rights, such as ACLU, The National Center for Transgender Equality, Lambda Legal, and others.

.@realDonaldTrump and @mike_pence, we won’t be silenced — no matter how much you try to erase us.#WontBeErased pic.twitter.com/n9CmLZfNrf

Another needlessly cruel proposal by the Trump Administration. Transgender Americans, we stand with you. We will not allow you to be erased. #WontBeErasedhttps://t.co/mdaFJyc8aq

Transgender activists and allies rallied at the White House today to protest the Trump administration's latest attempt to erase trans people. Here's what they had to say about protecting trans rights and the media's role in covering the transgender community. #WontBeErased pic.twitter.com/5utXTFnrYf

The government may be living in an alternate universe, but we as a society & culture know who we are and know our truth and must stick together and raise our voices so we can educate them about gender identities. #TransRightsAreHumanRights #WontBeErased

Every Georgian should be able to self-determine their identity and expression. Period.

As #GAGov, I will be a firewall against hateful policies. I will continue to fight #RFRA and champion robust anti-discrimination laws to advance protections for ALL Georgians. #WontBeErased https://t.co/nKpWA5HbkX

This nation's darkest days have always come when our government deemed civil rights conditional. @realDonaldTrump’s ongoing assault on transgender Americans betrays our most fundamental responsibility to treat and see each other as human. #WontBeErased (1/2) https://t.co/ua9cGTHnK7

— Rep. Joe Kennedy III (@RepJoeKennedy) October 22, 2018

Courts have ruled since as far back as the 1970s that bans on sex discrimination cover transgender people. Period.https://t.co/FTX2z9a5Vp

— ACLU (@ACLU) October 22, 2018

Trans is beautiful.
Trans is natural.
Trans is enduring.

We are not going away, we will not yield, and we will not be erased. We are here to stay.

They have picked a fight with the wrong community, and they will know us by our resolve and pride.

It's simple: trans rights are human rights. Boston will always be a welcoming home for all, and that will never change. #WontBeErased pic.twitter.com/wgyHn7aT8n

— Mayor Marty Walsh (@marty_walsh) October 22, 2018

How ironic is it that millions of men and women are having their gender defined by a President who was born without balls… #WontBeErased #MondayMotivation

This doesn’t even anger me since we never believed you in the first place. #TransRightsAreHumanRights #WontBeErased pic.twitter.com/59d1ileQji

Trans and gender non-conforming people cannot be written, beaten, imprisoned, or shut out of existence.

Protect trans rights. Protect trans lives. #WontBeErased.
